The Property
The farm is a working grazing property of 251ha. It is bordered by 2 creeks and provides an interesting visual contrast of natural bushland and views. The creeks attract wonderful viewing opportunities for enthusiasts who enjoy bushwalking, birdwatching and natural areas of flora and fauna. After the prolonged drought, we hope platypus will return to the Bunyip Waterhole.
The Cottage and The Lodge are set in natural surrounds that ensure peace and privacy. However both accommodation premises are within a handy distance of the main farm establishment so farmstay activities can be enjoyed.
Bunyip Springs Farmstay first welcomed guests in April 2000 after the Cottage was lovingly restored to its original 1926 theme with mod cons added! Restoration of the 1910 Lodge was completed in readiness for Easter 2006. The addition of the Lodge gave extended groups, families and friends the opportunity to share a farm holiday experience together.
We gain a lot of pleasure welcoming visitors to the Maidenwell district and the delights of the South Burnett. Sharing our rural lifestyle has given us the opportunity to enjoy wonderful and enduring friendships with farmstay guests from all walks of life.
Bunyip Springs Farm Stay
BUNYIP of course comes from the mythical creature thought to inhabit our creeks and waterholes. My uncle, many years ago wove wonderful stories of this “vicious” creature to protect us from the danger of drowning in our property’s dams and waterholes. My children were similarly protected by the same stories. In fact when our much loved uncle died my youngest daughter sadly acknowledged the news with,
“He may drunk and smoked a lot, and he wasn’t very close to God, but he sure knew a lot about Bunyips!”
In keeping with my uncle’s quirky sense of humour this quote remains immortalised on his headstone.
SPRINGS came from nature’s legacy that we are privileged to caretake on our property, the natural springs which provide permanent water for our needs.
Hence “BUNYIP SPRINGS FARMSTAY”
